COMPETITION RULES

  1. The Fifth International Competition “Andrei Stoyanov” is open to all pianists of any age and nationality who study piano privately, at local music school, in a music program at their regular grade or high school, or at a specialized music institution (pre-college or collegiate), as long as piano is not their major instrument, or do not perform or teach piano on a professional basis.
  2. Date and location: The Fifth International Competition  “Andrei Stoyanov” will take place from 22 to 25 November 2018 in the concert hall of the “Andrei Stoyanov” Community and Music Center, Iskar str. 62 (map).
  3. The international jury includes well known pianists and pedagogues from Bulgaria and abroad. Every member of the jury has no right to vote for his own student, if he participates in the competition.
  4. Prizewinners of the first prize of previous edition of the competition will be not allowed to take part in the same group in actual edition.
  5. It is possible for a candidate to take part in a higher age group, presenting the repertoire and duration of the program with the requirements of the upper age group.

Piano ensembles

N.B. The pieces from the ensemble program have to be played with score.

In this 2018 Music world celebrates the following anniversaries:

  • 100 years since the death of Claude Debussy,
  • 190 years since the death of Franz Schubert.

Contestants may include optional in their freely chosen program works by composers already listed. The special prizes will be distributed for the best performance of their works.

The duration could be LESS than the mentioned duration but NOT LONGER.

b) Piano ensembles (two or more participants)No age limit

The duration of the executed program – depending on the age of the performers, but not more than 15 minutes. Participants in the piano ensembles could be of a different age.

All the participants will receive diplomas for participation. The prize winners (first, second and third prize) of each group will receive medal and non-cash prizes. The jury could give special prize for best performance of Andrei Stoyanov piece.

DOCUMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION

The completed application form must be accompanied by the following documents:

  • Copy of birth certificate or passport for age verification
  • A picture of the candidate in a good resolution
  • (for candidates in groups VI-VIII) copy of diploma from last education degree, demonstrating that they have not majored in piano.
  • Bank document showing transfer of the application fee of 40 euro (for piano solo) and 60 euro (for all participants of the piano ensemble)

Option: The application fee could be paid cash directly on the special desk just before the performance of the candidate in competition.

Dear participants, for faster and better processing of your documents, PLEASE DO NOT WAIT FOR THE DEADLINE TO SEND THEM. The agglomeration of applications at the last moment, makes  difficulties for our staff and possible mistakes, which could provoke delay of the final edit of the traditional booklet with the participants and their program.
